Chapter Notes

Part One

Ch. 1 -- Hashford and Fillmore, two birds with one stone, the inseparable freaks. They wander throughout this whole novel doing whatever it is they do. Hashford is a tall, skinny hippie with long hair, a beard, patched jeans and Q tie-dyed tank-top. Fillmore is short, sort of round, clean-shaven, limp straight hair, a little thin, falling to the neckline of the grubby grey sweater he wears. These guys are associated with Freedman, the master thief (more on him later). The man they find dying in the sewer is Conrad Hawley, the manipulative man of mystery, organizer and man-behind-the-scenes of all these goings on, which deals primarily with a vast religious type ritual that attempts to make a mass alteration on the quality of consciousness.

* Ch. 2 -- Dominic is Dominic Jops, the Sky King, one of the groups known as the Element Kings. They are attempting to find out the meaning of what Hawley is doing, what the meaning of Ratland is. They are opposed by Black Fist and his organization, which is also and offshoot of Hawley's scheming. Leoda is Leoda Dunwoodie. She is the mother of Dominic's children, twin girls named Salome and Tornado Girl (Jennifer Dunwoodie). The girls form an integral part of the Element Kings' plans. Dominic took the chil dren away from Leoda then abandoned her to her fate. She aged prematurely and later became a procuress working out of a store front that looks like a Christian Science Reading Room. Dominic retains control of Salome but has lost Tornado Girl to Black Fist 's organization. This chapter takes place approximately fifteen years before the current events of the story.

* Ch. 3 -- Sandy and Baxter Klein. In this scene they are shown buying a suit of the kind President Nixon, Reagan and Haig wear. Sandy is vastly pregnant and does a lot of knitting. Baxter is short, rugged-faced, with a well-trimmed mustache -- he looks a lot like Officer Carl Levitt on "Barney Miller". Also Sandy, in addition to being pregnant, is young, about 26, blond, pretty.

* Ch. 4 -- Both Sandy and Baxter work for Freedman. Freedman is a master thief. Absolutely the best in the business. He looks a lot like John Denver. The blond hair, the wire-rims, white-turtleneck, red-plaid loggers shirt, a ski vest, blue jeans, hiking boots. He likes to drink gin and tonics. Oscar is his old school buddy. Oscar is a doctor, both for the Elements Kings and Black Fist-- his services are very much in demand being the only doctor in the story. They are meeting in a the late afternoon in a cocktail lounge, the kind with a piano player somewhere in twilight red-plush these places always have.

* Ch. 5 -- Norman is the mad poet. His room is a lot like my room. His thoughts are much like my thoughts. His looks much like my looks. I visualize him standing at his window looking out on a grey dawn.

* Ch. 6 -- Andrea is fifteen, blond with big tits and not a brain in her head. Her bedroom, where this scene takes place is decorated in pink. Her dad is Wildwood, a lawyer, a minor political official, a member of the board of certain corporations. He also works for Black Fist and has a taste for kinky sex.

* Ch. 7 -- Back to Hashford and Fillmore. They have just come out of the sewer where they left Conrad Hawley. They are begin kidnapped by the Sky King's if teen year old daughter, Salome. Remember please, these people are very r

Part Two

Ch. 8 -- Norman is seated in his room reading a book. It is BloodLust in Ratland. He throws it in the trash-can, then sits down to write.

Ch. 9 -- Freedman, the master thief out on a reconnaissance mission at Fort Knox. Sandy, vastly pregnant, and Baxter pick him up in a helicopter and zoom away to see Black Fist.

Ch. 10 -- Salome delivers Hashford and Fillmore to her daddy's mansion. Element Kings are trying to get Hashford and Fillmore, Sandy and Baxter and Freedman to help them against Black Fist, but as you see Freedman is trying to get Black Fist's help for himself.

Ch. 11 -- Andrea and Frogman. Froggy is a x. Andrea is also friends with Leoda, the s become a procuress and is just finished ther on the phone. derelict, an absolute stoney to Sky King's cast-off mistress who is talking with Wildwood, Andrea's

Ch. 12 -- Black Fist's lair. Oscar, the doctor, Freedman's friend is their hired hand. He is making a report to BF about Norman, who is completely 'thout his knowledge a captive of BF's. Wildwood is one of BF's operatives e one that is deploying to use the President and his fat daughter to keep Element Kings off balance. Black Fist is eating in this scene, as usual.

Ch. 13 -- Norman again. Having a nightmare that will transform his life.
