History of Parkview Skating Center
In June 1990 Roseburg, for the first time in 34 years, was without a skating rink. A small group of skating enthusiasts formed a non-profit corporation called Umpqua Valley Community Projects. U.V.C.P. committed their work to God., believing He could help with their "pipe dream".
Our community rolled up their sleeves and went to work to provide safe, supervised fun for the children, youth and families of Douglas County. School kids washed cars, sold pencils and held various fund-raisers.
Jack Snodgrass of the Douglas Community Foundation took the dream to Kenneth Ford and the Ford Family Foundation. Today, our community has been blessed by God through the vision given to Kenneth Ford because of the children of Douglas County. The desire for a roller skating center blossomed into a multi-purpose facility that offers three basketball, volleyball courts, a teen activity center, along with new weight, aerobics and cardiovascular rooms. Mr. Ford passed away before the facility opened in June 1997. His memory will remain in the hearts of those individuals whose lives are enriched by his generosity.
Please stop by and check out the facility. Skating is offered Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sunday night is "Christian Music" night. Sunday afternoon parents skate free when accompanied by their child. We have great birthday party packages starting at $45.00.
